In 2016 we were appointed to deliver the landscape design for a large Build to Rent and retail scheme in Leeds City Centre. The former industrial site is a complex area situated between rail lines, rivers and canals and includes a Victorian viaduct which stretches 360m along the southern boundary. Now disused, the viaduct previously acted as a key link into Leeds Train Station.
Our role was to reimagine the old viaduct as a high level linear park. Now complete the new park will evolve in character along its length, from a predominantly soft space as it runs over the River Aire and Leeds-Manchester Canal to one more urban in character towards the Apartment Buildings.
At the heart of the new park a major events space will give Leeds a unique venue with an elevated vantage point over the rest of the city.
